The Company commenced business operations in January 1993 with the acquisition of Ceylon Tobacco Company’s fertilizer business. With the change in ownership, the new brand name CIC POHORA was successfully established in the market place. The rapid growth of sales led to the expansion of its blending facilities from a single plant at Kurunegala to two more at Peliyagoda and Maho. However in the year 2007 the Company decided to terminate fertilizers production in Maho and commission a high tech rice processing plant at Maho.

We possess the only computerized fertilizer blending plants in Sri Lanka which is also equipped with laboratories that ensures the uniformity and accuracy of all fertilizer blends.

The Company pioneered the use of computerized blending technology, modern concept of ‘Balance Plant Nutrition’, introduction of micro nutrient fertilizer & fertilizer products for fertigation. It is the first & the only ISO 9001 Quality System certified Fertilizer Company in Sri Lanka at present.

All goods purchased are verified for quality and quantity prior to being taken into stock. The customer has the right to verify the incoming products at source if contractually specified.

The Company identifies different market segments and their needs, which necessitates developing a strategic plan for its sales activities in order to produce and
deliver the goods requested by the customers.
