New livestock project at Muthuwella and Siddhapura

New livestock project has established at Muthuwella in Polonnaruwa district and Siddhapura in Batticalo district under the name of “CIC Mahawelli Livestock and Dairies Pvt Ltd. Main objective of the project is to carry on the business related to livestock production, processing and marketing of livestock products and to issue high producing breeding materials to the surrounding farmers. The selected livestock farmers will be given a package of imputes and services including technical know-how by the company to enhance their productivity. Planning and constructions are underway to develop large scale modern buffalo farm having herd strength of around 1500 milking buffaloes at Muthuwella and 1000 high producing dairy cattle at Siddhapura with view to produce 10000 liters of milk daily. Out grower program will be coupled to purchase approximately 15000 liters of milk from farmers in the surrounding areas. A mini dairy unit with a capacity of processing 25000 liters of milk will be establish very soon to produce pasteurized milk, ice cream, yoghurt, butter and cheese etc.
