Examine your tea estate and prepare a diagram showing different fields. Divide the land in to uniform sections. |

Sub divide sections into blocks of not more than 5 acres each. |

3. |
Collect the soil samples from TOP SOIL (6"=15cm from surface) and from SUB SOIL (6" - 12" = 15- 30cm) separately as shown in figure. |

Move in the field in a zig zag manner to collect samples from 15 to 20 points in each block. |

Collect all top soil samples of each block together in a polythene sheet. Do the same with sub soil samples in another sheet. |

6. |
Mix each bulk sample thoroughly. |
| |
|
7. |
Divide each lot into FOUR equal portions and discard the opposite portions. Mix the remaining two opposite portions. Continue this process till 500g soil is left. |

8. |
Send samples to the lab for analysis. |

CAUTION :
| Avoid unusual areas which nearer to buildings, gates, footpaths, field bunds, eroded areas, fertilizer spill areas etc. |
| Collect samples before fertilizer application and during dry period 9for easy sampling some amount of moisture should be present in soil). |
| Avoid taking samples when the soil is too wet. |
